SPRINGFIELD – Yolanda A. Fox, 86, of Springfield died at 10:15 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, at her home.
She was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Warren, R.I., the daughter of Antonio and Asunta Annunziata Ragosta. She married Benjamin F. Fox Sr. on Aug. 10, 1946; he preceded her in death on April 20, 1988.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Lisa Fox; and a sister, Ann Thomas.
She is survived by two daughters, Susanna (John) Gust and Karen (Joseph) O’Beirne, both of Springfield; a son, Benjamin F. (Cathy) Fox Jr. of Rochester; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters, Olga Penman, Theresa Texeira and Josephine Cheshire, all of Rhode Island; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Yolanda was a Springfield resident for most of her life. She worked for the Illinois Department of Revenue for 18 years.
She was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She loved to fish, gamble, go on bus trips and spend time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2010, at Staab Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, with the Rev. Peter Harman officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Cathedral Grade School.
