SHERMAN – William Robinson Jr. 76 of Sherman passed away on June 18, 2009, at his residence.
William was born November 29, 1932, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of William and Teresa Frichtl Robinson. He married Pennie J. Montgomery on January 28, 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Following graduation from Lanphier High School in 1951 William served in the U.S. Army. He then worked for Evans Construction Company, retiring in 1994 after 40 years. He was a member of Laborer’s Local 477 and Cool Cruisers Car Club. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, collecting antiques, and was a car enthusiast having restored two classic cars.
Surviving are his wife, Pennie J. Robinson; two sons, Thomas W. (wife, Ellen) Robinson of Sherman and Allan D. (wife, Linda) Robinson of Springfield; one granddaughter, Jessica (husband, Mike) Dauphinee of Springfield; one great-grandson, Michael A. Dauphinee of Springfield; and one sister, Betty Farnam of Mechanicsburg; one niece; one nephew; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Reverend Mike Pennell officiating. Burial will follow in Fancy Creek Cemetery in Sherman.
