William R. Peterson, Sr. 78, of Springfield, died at 11:35 pm, Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born June 27, 1939, in Springfield, Illinois to William Earl and Mary Elizabeth Robertson Peterson. He married Shirley Sizelove on January 27, 1958 and she survives.
Also surviving are three children, William R. (Paula) Peterson, Jr. of Sherman, Cynthia (Joseph) Fickas and Kimberly (Brian) Judd both of Springfield; six grandchildren, Phillip, Tricia, Lauren, Cory, Shannon and Shawn and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
William was a US Navy veteran. He was a Union Sheet Metal Worker and belonged to Union #218.
Graveside Service: 11 am, Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Pastor Charlie Carver officiating and where military honors will be conducted.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League or the American Cancer Society.
