NALCREST, Fla. – William Bill F. Kisner Sr., 79, of Nalcrest, Fla., formerly of Springfield, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Lake Wales Hospital in Lake Wales, Fla.
He was born Dec. 6, 1929, in Springfield, the son of Millard and Clara Crim Kisner. He married Patricia Houston in 1950; she preceded him in death on Aug. 21, 1991.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and three sisters.
He is survived by three daughters, Pam (husband, Eric) Johnson of Taylorville, Sally (husband, Darrell) Berns of Virden and Brenda Kisner of Warrington, Mo.; two sons, William Rick (wife, Sheree) Kisner Jr. of Crystal River, Fla., and Mike Kisner of Springfield; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Maxine Lowe of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill had lived in Florida for over 20 years. He retired from the United States Postal Service where he worked as a mailman. He was also a bus driver for Crown Transit and was a city bus driver.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean conflict. He attended Feitshans High School and loved to sing. He was a lifetime member of the Springfield DAV and American Legion in Nalcrest, Fla. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, loved bowling, playing cards with his buddies and golfing.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with Bob Green officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct Military Honors.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
