William Earl Bennett

William Earl Bennett, 69, of Springfield, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born December 14, 1947, to Arthur and Margaret (Rodemer) Bennett. He married Theresa Rotherham on October 8, 1988, and she survives.

Also surviving are his daughter, Lindsey (Adam Larrison) Bennett of Avon, IN; two step-children: Dennis Sanderfield of Springfield and Bridgett Redman of Springfield; three brothers: David A. Bennett of Leland Grove, James A. (Leslie) Bennett of St. Louis, MO, Steven B. (Sandhya) Bennett of Falls Church, VA, several grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He was owner and operator of Mr. B’s IGA, Old Lux, and Bernie & Betty’s. He was also a United States Air Force veteran.
He was a great friend and uncle to many, and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Memorial Gathering: 5-7 pm, Thursday, February 2, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Graveside Service: 10 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Inter-Veterans Burial Detail.

A procession will leave the funeral home at 9:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
