William E. Israel

July 18, 1932 - June 20, 2018

William E. Israel, 85, of Springfield, died at 1:05 pm, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. He was born in Granite City, IL, to William J and Margaret Sarah (John) Israel. He married Marilyn D. Martin on June 17, 1951.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three sons, Douglas E. (Debra) Israel of Springfield, Gregory M. (Sue) Israel of O’Fallon, MO and Richard A. (Ellen) Israel, Sr. of Roselle, IL; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Jones of Scottsdale, AZ and Nancy Strowmatt of Rantoul, IL and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Israel.

William was a USAF veteran and a member of Laurel United Methodist Church; Masonic Lodge #80 in White Hall and ANSAR Shrine in Springfield.
He worked as a Scheduling Supervisor at Anderson – Clayton Company in Jacksonville.

Visitation: 9:30 – 11:30 am, Monday, June 25, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11:30 am, Monday, June 25, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with Dr. Kent Lolling officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel United Methodist Church or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
