CHATHAM- William “Billy” Franklin Henderson, 59, of Chatham died at 9:00 pm, Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at his home. He was born on May 22, 1956 in Cairo, IL to Martie and Anna Bledsoe Henderson and they preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Alfred Henderson; one sister, Charlotte Henderson and a step-granddaughter, Paige Rhodes.
William is survived by his fiancé and life partner, M. Kay Klammer-Phillips; one daughter, Jennifer Lea (Jerry) Richards of Conway, AR; three step-children, Kim (H.B.) Sablotny and Cindy (Kevin) Purcell both of Chatham and Mark (Suzanne) Phillips of Pawnee; two grandchildren, Jacob and Jewlia Richards; five step-grandchildren; two sisters, Gloria (Frank) Curley of Jefferson City, MO and Catherine Hoban of Tuckahoe, NY; five brothers, Hollis Henderson of Thebes, IL, Wally (Mikey) Henderson of Sarasota, FL, Martie Wayne (Dawn) Henderson of Amboy, IL, David (fiancé Ivy) Henderson and Steve Henderson both of Thebes, IL.
Billy was the owner of the Floor Dr. of Illinois and worked in construction. He was the maintenance supervisor for Building Blocks Day Care, Sunrise Manor and the Route 66 Hotel. He served in the Army in Hanau, Germany and was honorably discharged in 1988. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and singing karaoke and was the 1st Honorary Otter Idol of Otter Lake Campgrounds in Girard. He was an avid Cardinal fan.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Monday, November 2, 2015 at Staab Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
