William Preston “Bill” Waters, 62, of Springfield, died at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born July 23, 1950 in Springfield to Wayne M. and Doris M. Davidsmeier Waters who preceded him in death.
He is survived by one sister: Julia (John) Greer of Chatham; companions: Barbara Waters Capshaw and Ed Capshaw of Springfield; one niece: Jeanette (Robert) Schuerman of Springfield; one nephew: Jeff (Michelle) Greer of Pekin and several aunts, uncles, cousins and great nieces and nepews.
Bill was a member of Southside Christian Church. He published two chat books with Edgar Rice Burroughs and was heavily involved in the Edgar Rice Burroughs organization. He was an avid reader and a talented artist. He enjoyed comic books and was a major collector. He played tennis and cards in his spare time and was a member of the APL and rescued and placed many stray animals.
He was an English teacher at Sacred Heart Griffin High School and the owner of Full Circle Books and Comics.
