Wendell J. Rappe’, 91, joined his departed loved ones at 9:42 pm, Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at his home. The last of his immediate family. Mr. Rappe’ was born December 22, 1924, to Dallas and Matilda Rappe’ of Taylor Springs, Illinois; the 11th of 13 children.

Mr. Rappe’ was preceded in death by his parents; brothers; Lee, Lyle, Tom, Joe, Art, Dwight, Duane, Pat and Bernard and his sisters, Mary, Opal and Catherine. Also preceding him in death was a daughter, Kathleen Ann and his good friend and constant companion, Janice Rohrig.

He is survived by his two children, Steve Rappe’ (wife Brenda) of Winslow, IN and Teresa Rappe’ of Springfield; first wife, Norma Bacon Moore; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren, as well as lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Rappe’ was a veteran of WWII, having served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946. He was Parts Manager for the local Ford dealerships for over 40 years and was well respected in the community. Wendell lived life to the fullest. No matter where he went, people knew him. His hobbies included travel, golf, bowling and just being with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all.

Visitation: 10-11 am, Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Cabrini Church.

Funeral Mass: 11 am, Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Cabrini Church with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
