Wayne Eugene Thomas, 65, of Springfield, died at 12:50 am, Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at his home. He was born August 11, 1951 in Evansville, IN, to Charles Clifford and Nellie Helene Fairfield Thomas. He married Esther Rundus on June 10, 1972 and she survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Kimberly (Gary) Rigney and Brittany (Jonathan) Ottino both of Springfield; four grandchildren, Jessica Massey, Owen, Savannah and Graham Ottino; two step grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Hays and Michael (Michelle) Rigney; five step great grandchildren, Macy, Zoey, Mya, Zander and Mabry; one aunt, Maudine Lee of Greenwood, IN; several brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Marshall Thomas.
Wayne attended West Side Christian Church and Farmingdale Presbyterian. He enjoyed photography, tropical fish, archery, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandkids.
He worked in sales and technical support for Tranter and had worked for Colonial Vending, A1 Lock and as a car salesman.
Visitation: 4-7 pm, Friday, August 19, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home–Springfield and additional visitation from 10-11 am, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield, with Pastor Gary Winkleman officiating. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
