SPRINGFIELD – Warren B. Galligan of Springfield died at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center, age 86.
He was born March 23, 1921, in Springfield, the son of Francis B. and Lena Martin Galligan. He married Agnes Bakunas on Nov. 14, 1944. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marilyn Bradford.
Mr. Galligan, a resident of Springfield all of his life, was a sales manager/vice president of Henry Nelch Co., retiring after 49 years of service.
He was a member of St. Agnes Church and a United States Navy veteran, serving during World War II. He also was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce and a previous member of Knights of Columbus for many years and a previous member of the Motor Boat Club.
Surviving are his wife, Agnes Galligan of Springfield; a daughter, Patricia (husband, Stephen) Jones of Springfield; two sons, Timothy (wife, Nancy) Galligan of Williamsville and Michael (wife, Christine) Galligan of Alton; eight grandsons, Brian (wife, Sherri) Jones of Olathe, Kan., Dan Galligan of Granite City, Chris (wife, Christie) Jones of Chatham, Mark Galligan of Rockland, Mass., Jeff Galligan of St. Louis, Matt Galligan of Longmont, Colo., Andy Galligan of Mount Prospect and Ryan Galligan of Williamsville; two sisters, Doris Garrison of Springfield and Elizabeth Betty Buhrman of New Jersey; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2007, at Staab Funeral Home with prayers at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at St. Agnes Church with the Rev. Robert Jallas officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
