Wanda “Tommie” Rothermel, 86, of Springfield, died at 9:25 am, Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 26, 1930 in Springfield, the daughter of Nellie and Henry Park Olds. She married George Rothermel on June 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1985.
She graduated from Springfield High School and SSU. She was an Elementary teacher at Jane Addams School for twenty-five years. She was a member of IEA, RSVP and a volunteer at Memorial Medical Center for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters, two brothers and daughter-in-law, Debby Rothermel.
Survivors include sons, Bruce (fiancée, Mary Pusheck) Rothermel, of Ft. Myers, FL, Gregg (wife, Ji) Rothermel of Lindenhurst, IL; daughters, Nancy (husband, John) Ulakey of Glasgow, KY and Julie (husband, Jim) Stites of Springfield; nine grandchildren, Matt, Amanda, Zac, Andria, Jake, Sarah, Alex, Noah and Tony; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services were held.

I met Wanda just over 5 years ago volunteering at Memorial Hospital. I loved her great wit & sense of humor. I bet she was a wonderful teacher. My sincere sympathy to the family for your loss. Suellen Frederick
