SPRINGFIELD – Virginia M. Etherton, 95, of Springfield died at 9:20 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.
She was born July 10, 1914, in Swissvale, Pa., the daughter of Albert E and Ellen M. Ritter Watkins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Scott Weiskopf; two great-granddaughters, Morgan Flexsenhar and Kelsey Stumpf; and a daughter-in-law, Louise Weiskopf.
She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Mike) Flexsenhar of Bonita Springs, Fla. and Kaye E. (Bill) Brittin of Pleasant Plains; two sons, Norman Weiskopf of Naples, Fla. and David E. Weiskopf of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
Virginia was a resident of Springfield since 1920. She was a sales clerk for Sears, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and was an active resident of Washington Plaza.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with the
Rev. Greg Busboom officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Memorial Hospice or Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.
