Virginia M. Braner, 82, of Springfield, died Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at Union County Hospital in Anna. She was born on March 18, 1936 in Simpson, IL to Ralph and Hersie (Fort) Warren. She married Richard Braner in 1968 and he preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Byron and Jeaneen Braner of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; including, Sue (Kenny) Goddard of Vienna, Barbara Clymore of Jonesboro, Donna Travelstead of Creal Springs, Alivin L. Travelstead of Marion and Mary Carol Braner of Springfield, plus many great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister and brother-in-law, Edna and Alvin Travelstead; brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Karon Warren; brother-in-law Norman Brand and wife Hilda, two nieces, Linda Smith and Angela Braner; two nephews, Raymond Travelstead and Gary Braner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ada and Fred Braner.
Virginia was a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church, where she was involved in the Women’s Organization. She was also a member of the Victor Club at the YWCA and a volunteer at the American Red Cross.
She retired from the State of Illinois Police after 36 years of service.
Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Monday, June 4, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 10 am Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Dr. Michael J. Keppler officiating. Burial will follow at Farmington Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Springfield Southern Baptist Church, American Red Cross or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
