Virginia F. Wilson, Age 96, of Quincy, died at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. She was born February 26, 1916 in St. Louis, MO to Homer and Ida Baines Linxwiler. She married Edward G. Wilson, Sr. on July 3, 1936 and he preceded her in death in 2008 after 71 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Virgil Linxwiler and one sister: Mariam Jayne McCarthy.
She is survived by one daughter: Patricia J. McConnell of Quincy; one son: Edward G. (Mary Beth) Wilson, Jr. of Gerald, MO; one grandson: John C. (Rebecca) Wilson of O’Fallon, MO; one granddaughter: Bonnie E. (Michael Becker) Wilson of St. Louis, MO; one step-granddaughter: Rashelle Popinski of St. Louis; one niece: Kendra (Bill Igoe) McCarthy of Springfield and one nephew: Michael (Larry) McCarthy of Springfield.
Mrs. Wilson was employed in retail sales, as an office worker, and for many years as a secretary. She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Springfield for over fifty years. She has resided in a retirement community in Quincy for the last four years.
Visitation: 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 p.m. Monday, March 19, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Mary Ellen Sharp officiating. Entombment will be in Oak Ridge Chapel Mausoleum.
