SPRINGFIELD – Violet Mae Gowin, 81, of Springfield died at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born Nov. 29, 1927, in Buffalo Hart, the daughter of Herman and Alma Fay Bosaw Ackley. She married Howard E. Robinson in October of 1946; he preceded her in death on May 15, 1973. She then married James Gowin in Dec. of 1973; he preceded her in death in January of 2006.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Margaret Ann; three brothers, Arlin, Therman and Harry Ackley; and a grandson, Billy Bolt.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia (husband, William) Bolt Jr. and Becky Robinson, both of Springfield and Brenda (fiance, Mike Patton) Robinson of Williamsville; a son, Michael (wife, Mo) Robinson of Springfield; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Otis (Alice) Ackley of Ossineke, Mich.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Violet retired from Carter’s Fish Market after working there for over 20 years.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with Rev. Hendrik Smidderks officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
