Violet M. Carncross, 86, of Springfield, IL, died at 6:38 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born on September 26, 1925 in Springfield to the late Hubbard and Olive Gamble Perkins. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Darleen Ahrens and two sisters, Kathryn Miller and Juanita Perkins.
Violet married Jack Carncross on February 7, 1945 and he survives. Also surviving are her two daughters, Colleen Stone of Springfield and Kathleen (Dewey) Yaeger of Dekalb, IL; one son, Gordon (Elaine) Carncross of West Chicago, IL; five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Carncross was a member of Williamsville Christian Church and Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed making ceramics and sewing. Violet retired from the State of Illinois in 1991.
Visitation: 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Duggins officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
