Violet “Vi” L. Williams, 90, of Springfield, died at 2:15 p.m., Thursday, September 29, 2011 at Heritage Health Center. She was born September 12, 1921 in Manty, KS to Founte and Carrie Simmons Henthorn. She married Wayne L. “Hap” Williams on April 6, 1946 and preceded her in death on February 21, 1986.
Her parents, one daughter, Linda and one brother Eldon “Bud” Henthorn also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Franklin) Wade of Mt. Pulaski and Patricia Kennedy of Irrigon, OR; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Etta “Jerri” Roberts of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Marie Henthorn of Casper, WY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vi was a member of Buffalo Christian Church, Sangamo Electric 25 year Club; Eagles Aerie 437 Auxiliary and St. John’s Samaritans.
She worked at the Illiopolis Ordinance Plant during WWII and worked for more than 25 years at Sangamo Electric. Her last employment was with St. John’s Hospital in the Medical Records department.
Visitation: 5-7 pm, Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 10 am, Monday, October 3, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with Dr. Walter D. Zorn officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
