Victor John Gairani, 71, of Springfield, died at 7:50 am, Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at his home. He was born June 26, 1941 in St. Louis, MO, to John B. and Grace (Palazzolo) Gairani. He married Kathlyn M. Bellamy on September 28, 1963 and she survives.
Also surviving are six children; Victor (Cheryl) Gairani, Jr. of St. Charles, MO, Donna C. (Kent) Jacobs of Springfield, Matthew Gairani of Springfield, Andrew (Andrea) Gairani of Naperville, Rhett (Megumi) Gairani of Springfield and Cecelia Gairani of Springfield; two grandsons; eight granddaughters; one sister Phyllis Vithoulkos of Olathe, KS and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents; one daughter-in-law, Nina Gairani and one brother-in-law, John Vithoulkos preceded him in death.
Victor was a member of the Church of the Little Flower. He was a member of The Board of Directors of The Villas Retirement Community; was past Commander of the Italian American War Veterans and was a board member of the Roman Cultural Society. He was a member of the Missouri National Guard from 1959 – 1968.
He was a Salesman for Wonder Bread and Sysco Food Service and was owner of Vic’s Brokerage.
Visitation: 3-7 pm, Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 4pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Monday, January 21, 2013 at Church of the Little Flower with Monsignor John Ossola officiating. Entombment will follow at Oak Ridge Chapel, where military honors will conduct by Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
Memorials may be given to Wounded Warriors.
