Velma Beatta Wentz, 90, of Lemmon, SD died on Saturday, August 3, 2019 in Chatham, IL. She was born on July 23, 1929, in Burt, ND to Henry Auch and Anna Maria Weikum Auch, and they preceded her in death. She married LeRoy Bernard Wentz on June 13, 1947 and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2014.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda (Darryl) Rauscher of Chatham, two sons: George (Deb) Wentz and Michael (Vicki) Wentz, both of Lemmon, SD, thirteen grandchildren: Shannon (Ronald, Jr.) Estes, Edward (Kelly) Rauscher, Michelle Black, Matthew (Amariah) Rauscher, Curtis Wentz, Travis (Leslie) Wentz, Cassandra (Matthew) Johnson, Tony (Erin) Wentz, Jesse (Jodi) Thom, Melanie Thom, Jennifer (Trevor) Krause, Jessica (Justin) Gizzi, Nichole (Corey) Fitterer; twenty-four great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and one sister, Ella Shields of Missoula, MT; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and cousins, and her four legged companion, Teddy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter-in-law, Lisa Wentz; one great-granddaughter, Abbigale Wentz and eight siblings: Edward, Helen, Otto, Edwin, Martha, Emil, Edmund, and Lucille.
Velma was a resident of Lemmon, SD for over thirty years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Elgin, ND. Velma always maintained a beautiful garden and tended to the needs of her family and their house as a homemaker.
Cremation was accorded in Springfield, IL and burial will take place in Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD.
