Valerie K. Jenkins, 58, of Springfield, passed away Friday, October 24, 2014, at Advocate Sherman Hospital, Elgin, IL.
She was born in Taylorville on December 15, 1955, the daughter of William Joseph and Tanyia C. Montonye Greenan. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, LaVance Montonye.
She is survived by her three sisters: Constance (Michael) McLaughlin of Springfield, Leigh Matthews of Murfreesboro, TN and Holly (John) Beard of Taylorville; two nieces: Erin Matthews of Murfreesboro, TN and Ellie (Chris) Howard of Springfield; one nephew, Mason McLaughlin of Springfield; great niece, Madison Howard; two great nephews: Hayden and Jase Howard and several aunts, uncles, and cousins
Valerie was employed with the State of Illinois. She enjoyed bowling, Nascar, and was a Tony Stewart fan, loved her cats and dogs, and spending time with her family. She was also a member of the Firefighters Club.
Memorial Service: 1 pm, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life: 3 pm, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Firefighters- Postal Lake Club.
