Toni Leigh Elston, 47, of Springfield, died at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at her home, after a 3 ½ year battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
She was born on July 17, 1964 in Danville, IL to Joe E. and Carolyn Brown. She married Jeff Elston on April 26, 1991.
Toni is survived by her husband, Jeff, two sons, Alexander (Samantha) Henthorn of Virginia Beach, VA and Roman Elston of Springfield, three grandchildren, Logan, Braelyn and Gavin Henthorn, and parents, Joe (Linda) Brown of Rantoul, IL and Carolyn (Carroll) Wernigk of Tilton, IL.
A resident of Springfield since 1990, she previously lived in Dallas, TX and Catlin, IL. She was a homemaker and loved scrapbooking, sewing, quilting, cooking, going to the movies, shopping and especially studying the Bible.
Toni was very proud of her son, Alex, who is serving in the United States Navy. She loved watching her son, Roman, play hockey for the Springfield Kings.
Memorial Gathering: 4 – 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8, 2012 at 1st United Methodist Church.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2012 at 1st United Methodist Church with Pastor Roger Ross officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 1st United Methodist Church.
