SPRINGFIELD – Thomas D. McKinzie, 56, of Springfield died at 2:51 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at St. John’s Hospital.
He was born Sept. 16, 1952, in Springfield, the son of George William and Fannie Besjak McKinzie. He married Georgetta Rogers on Jan. 24, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his wife, Georgetta McKinzie of Springfield; a daughter, Destiny Rose McKinzie of Carbondale; his mother, Fannie McKinzie of Springfield; two sisters, Bev (Jim) Oshesky and Pam Burba, both of Springfield; three brothers, George W. (Sandy) McKinzie II of Lake Orion, Mich., and Bob (Jean) McKinzie and Jake McKinzie, both of Springfield; several aunts and uncles; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He worked as a carpenter with Oshesky Builders.
He was a member of the Real Life Church. He enjoyed riding his Harley. He was a friend of Bill W. He also enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. The body will lie in state from 10:30 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Real Life Church followed by funeral services at 11 a.m., with Pastor Clint Cook officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
