Thomas A. Schafer, 51, of Nashville, TN, died at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, January 11, 2016. He was born on May 11, 1964 in Springfield, IL to Vernon L. and Mary M. Kienzler Schafer and they preceded him in death.

He is survived by his four children: Sarah Schafer of Springfield, Ashley Schafer of Columbia, TN, Ariana Schafer and Tony Schafer of Shelbyville, TN; his five beautiful grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Laurie (Steve) Mann, Kurt (Kathy) Schafer, Kris (Diana) Schafer, Karen (Rich) Higdon, Dan Schafer, Mary Beth Ross, Jack Schafer, Sue (Kurt) Windisch and Steve Schafer all of Springfield, Kevin (Michelle) Schafer of Williamsville, Jane Edwards of Chatham, David (Liz) Schafer of Lincoln and Sally Lyons of Firestone, CO and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Schafer lived in Tennessee for over 20 years, where he worked as an accountant for Alive Hospice and had formerly worked at Federated Funeral Directors. He was an avid KISS fan and loved his family and friends.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home. A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m.

Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
