SPRINGFIELD – Theresa Anne Kipp, 53, of Springfield passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Born to Aldo and Maria Vicini in Hoboken, NJ, on February 13, 1956, she was the younger of 2 children. She married Harold S. Kipp on August 17, 1991; he preceded her in death on May 8, 2005.
Also preceding was her father, Aldo Vicini.
She is survived by her sons, George (Juliet) Kipp of Salem, OR and William Kipp of Springfield; her stepsons, Peter (Yeo Ok) Kipp of Seoul, South Korea, David (Paulissa) Kipp of Omaha, NE, and Matthew Kipp of Hazel Hill, Nova Scotia; her brother, John Vicini of Clifton, NJ; and sister-in-law, Catherine Devereaux of Louisville, CO.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1974, briefly attended college, and joined the United States Army in 1977. While in the army, she rose to the rank of sergeant and served in Germany, South Carolina, and Kentucky. She was discharged from the Army in 1980, and pursued many different career paths; lastly retiring from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources as a secretary. She was a loving and caring wife and mother.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, December 28, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. 5th St. Springfield, IL. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
