Theodore “Ted” E. Siedle, 77, of Springfield, died at 4:51 p.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at St. John’s Hospice. He was born December 4, 1933 in Pittsburgh, PA to Theodore A. and Anne Birchard Siedle. He married Joan Foster in 1982, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Kathryn Woods of Mauldin, SC and Jenette (Rene) Champagne of The Woodlands, TX; one son, George (Kathleen) Blessing of Springfield; five grandchildren; one sister Mary Anne (David) Harmon of Washington, PA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents preceded him in death.
Ted retired to Springfield in 1999. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh; was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Army Security Agency stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2011 at Staab Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5pm.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Saturday, February 5, 2011 at Blessed Sacrament Church with Reverend David Hoefler officiating
Burial will be at 12 p.m., on Monday, February 7, 2011 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church or the Animal Protective League.
