Theodore H. Glatz, Sr., 91, of Springfield, formerly of Peoria, died at 6:37 am, Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Concordia Village. He was born February 15, 1921 in Tazewell County to Otto and Anna Baechle Glatz. He married Lois E. Fowler on January 31, 1942 and she preceded him in death on July 9, 2011. His parents, one sister and two brothers also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Bette (Richard) Bilinsky of Springfield; one son, Theodore H. (Paula) Glatz, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren, Jeremy & Kelsey Glatz; Beth (Bob) Berning, Matt (Kim) and Cara Bilinsky; four great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Glatz was a veteran of WWII, serving aboard an aircraft carrier in the European/North Africa Theaters. Following his service in the Navy, he graduated from Bryant College in Providence, RI with a degree in Accounting & Business Administration. He worked for Rohn Manufacturing in Peoria, IL as a Contracts Manager.
He was a member of Holy Family Church in Peoria, where he served as an usher. After retiring, he volunteered at the Share Food Program through the church. He was also active in the Better Business Bureau and taught computer classes at the Senior Center. He was an avid fisherman.
Visitation: 9-10 am Friday, April 13, 2012 at Christ The King Church.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Friday, April 13, 2012 at Christ the King Church with Monsignor David Lantz and Reverend Stephen A. Thompson concelebrating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Food Pantry in Peoria, Illinois.
