Sue Chandler, 73, of Springfield died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Villa East Health Care. She was born February 25, 1941 in Olmsted, IL to Delbert and Pearl (Fralick) Britt. She married Philip W. Chandler of Barlow, KY who preceded her in death on July 24, 1995.

Also preceding her in death are her parents and one nephew, Pat O’Neil, Major, US Army.

Survivors include one daughter, Lesley Chandler of St. Louis, MO; one son, Mike (Carla) Chandler of Athens, IL; two grandchildren, Ainsley and Jared Chandler; one sister, Kay (Joe) O’Neil, of Dewitt, IA, a brother-in law, Gary (Barbara) Chandler of Barlow, KY, and three nephews, Tim O’Neil, Dane Chandler and Kyle Chandler.

Sue retired after many years with First National Bank/US Bank where she coordinated many senior citizen trips and events with the Double 5 Plus Club and was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed volunteering at the Illinois Presbyterian Home and the Athens School District helping with preschool activities. In the late 1970s, Sue acted on the Jane Adams PTA. In more recent times, she was an avid Athens community sports fan, known to all as “Grandma Sue”.

Visitation: 3-6 pm, Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am, Monday, December 15, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Gerald Boutelle officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. (Sue was a long-time breast cancer survivor.)
