SPRINGFIELD – Stephen W. Peura, 44, of Springfield passed away on June 18, 2009, at his home.
He was born July 9, 1964, in Springfield, the son of Walter William and Dorothy (Gunn) Peura.
His mother, Dorothy, preceded him in death on March 3, 2006.
Survivors include his father, Walter W. Peura of Springfield; one brother, Morley A. Peura of Springfield (wife, Mary Ann); his aunt, Sophie Peura of Marquette, MI; his aunt, Nancy Gunn of Boynton Beach, FL; his aunt and uncle, John and Frances Stencel of McGregor, IA; and several cousins; several nieces; a nephew; and one great-nephew.
Steve attended Southeast High School and Lincoln Land Community College. His occupation was principally a telemarketer for local businesses. He was fond of animals, especially cats, and volunteered with APL as foster parent for kittens. Steve was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was interested in WW II history and his father’s service with the 8th Armored Division. One of his most favored Bible passage(s) from the New Testament was the Beatitudes.
Private services will be held at a later date at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
