SPRINGFIELD – Stephen R. LaMonica, 58, of Springfield died at 6:27 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2009, at Regency Nursing Care Residence.
He was born May 12, 1950, in Normal, the son of Salvatore Andreas and Anna Mae Klawitter LaMonica. He was engaged to Janice Rowe. He and Janice have been together since November of 1995.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his fiancee, Janice Rowe; a daughter, Teresa (husband, Ken) Fewkes of Mackinaw; a stepdaughter, Melissa Riddle of Springfield; four grandchildren, Courtney and Justin Brown and Jacob Fewkes and Jesse LaMonica Fewkes; a brother, Charles Michael (wife, Julie) LaMonica of Bloomington; a brother-in-law, Dennis Rowe of Rochester; a niece, Gina LaMonica Torchia; and a nephew, Michael LaMonica.
Stephen lived in Springfield for 34 years. He was employed by Ameren/CIPS since 1981.
He was of the Methodist faith. He attended University High School in Normal. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Illinois Wesleyan and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
A memorial gathering will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial services at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Virden Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Jerome United Methodist Church.
