Stella L. Saputo Murrill, 99, formerly of Chatham, IL passed away at 4:39 pm, Monday, June 21, 2021, at Lake Park Nursing Home in Indian Trail, NC. She was born on September 9, 1921, in Springfield, IL to Vito and Rose (Calandrino) Saputo, Sr. She married Frank Ignazio Murrill on May 19. 1946 and he preceded her in death on September 26, 2007.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; two sisters, Vita Summers and Katie Zeppetella, and three brothers, Russell, Joe, and Frank Saputo.
Stella is survived by her two sons, Peter (Judith) Murrill of Indian Trail, NC and Frankie Murrill of Sharon, SC; six grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) Murrill, Jeanna (David) Rimmer, Anthony Murrill, Peter Joseph “P.J.” (Meredith) Murrill, Ami Murrill, and Michelle Murrill; seven great grandchildren, Katelin (fiancé, Garrett Brown), Sarah, Schaefer, Sailor, Remy, Bella, and Gabriel; one great great grandson, Sawyer, and many nieces and nephews.
She was a resident of Chatham, IL since 1961 until recently moving to North Carolina and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
Stella retired after twenty years as a waitress for Saputos Italian Restaurant and she loved to cook.
Private family graveside services are being held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

Stella and Frank lived across the street from us for many years. We still talk of them often, especially about how immaculate their lawn and landscaping was. They were good neighbors. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
