Shirley Marie Jackson, 68, of Worden, died at 2:35 am, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL. She was born, December 16, 1947 in Springfield, to Richard and Margaret Bowman Sponsler. She married John R. Jackson on June 21, 1965 and he survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Julie Podshadley and Margaret (Korey) Brinkman both of Worden; four grandchildren, John and Brooke Brinkman and Abigail and Jackson Podshadley; four sisters, Margaret “Bonnie” (Ed) Moats, Genevieve McEvoy, Barbara K. (Ron) Barnes and Linda Moats all of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Beverly Kuizin; two brothers, Richard and Robert Sponsler and one son-in-law, Craig Podshadley.
Shirley was a resident of Worden for the past eleven years and previously had lived in Springfield.
She was a retired self-employed beautician.
She enjoyed basket weaving, and spending time with her grandkids. Shirley was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan
Visitation: 10 am – 12 pm, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 12 pm, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home, with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
