Shirley Jean Beninato

Shirley Jean Beninato, 80, of Springfield, died at 12:45 am, Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born October 2, 1936 in White County, IL to Wilburn and Evelyn Englebright Whiting. She married Nick Beninato on July 12, 1958 and he survives.

Also surviving are one brother-in-law, Joe Beninato of Springfield; one sister-in-law, Nancy Slagel of Sherman and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lois Woodmancy and brother, Richard Whiting.

Shirley was a member of Sacred Heart Church. She worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company for fifteen years and retired from Horace Mann Insurance Company after twenty-nine years of service.

Cremation rights were accorded and no services are planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
