SPRINGFIELD – Sherman L. Brown, 96, of Springfield died at 7 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, at River Birch Senior Living.
He was born April 11, 1913, in Ardmore, Mo., the son of George E. and Odessa M. Robertson Brown. He married Louise Lay in 1932; she preceded him in death. He then married Annie White on Dec. 24, 1947.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Velma Young and Dorothy Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Annie Brown; two daughters, Donna (husband, Morris) Haynes of Girard and Brenda (husband, Tom) Hammes of Alexander; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild; a brother, Paul (wife, Rita) Brown of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sherman was a resident of Springfield since 1934. He retired in 1975 from Pillsbury Company, where he was a forklift driver.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Ardmore, Mo. and the Pillsbury Retirees.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of funeral services at noon on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with
Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
