SPRINGFIELD – Sharon C. Clark, 58, a resident of Springfield since 1981, formerly of Beardstown, Omaha, Neb., and Aviano Air Base in Italy, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009, at her residence.
She was born April 6, 1951, in Carthage, the daughter of Stuart and Una Scott Cravens. She married Ronald E. Clark Jan. 26, 1974.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Mrs. Clark was a graduate of Carthage High School, Robert Morris College, and NIU, where she received her Master of Arts in journalism.
She was a clerk at the Secretary of State’s office. She formerly worked for the Secretary of State Police, AIG and for several newspapers as a reporter.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and collecting ceramic cats.
Surviving are her husband, Ron; a daughter, Suzy (Ed) Dunn of Barry; four grandchildren, Dylan, Drew, Joe and Jeanie; a sister, Jennifer (Dennis) Wise of Keokuk, IA; four brothers, Mike (Pat) Cravens of Houston, TX, Rick (Kathy) Cravens of Keokuk, IA, Steve (Kathy) Cravens of Danvers, IL and Jeff Cravens of Carthage; mother-in-law, Betty Clark of Beardstown; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Dave and Kathy Preston.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. A lie-in-state will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church. Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009, at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev.Thomas Christell and the Rev. Juli Lejman-Guy officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
