SPRINGFIELD – Shannon Lee Wilson, 68, a resident of Springfield for more than 30 years and formerly of Sauk Village, died at 6:13 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born June 4, 1940, in Casey, the daughter of Ralph Leo and Iona M. Graham Wilson. She married William Dean Wilson in 1963. He preceded her in death in October of 2007.
Her father and a daughter also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wilson worked various retail and restaurant jobs. She also was a certified nurse’s aide at Dirksen House for 10 years. She was a member of Springfield Trinity Church of the Nazarene and spent most of her time with her church friends and her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Trana Sivilia (partner, Kevin) Wilson of Sulpher, La., and KaVonna Allessandra (partner, Mel) Hartley of Springfield; a son, William G. (wife, Joan) Wilson of Springfield; five grandchildren, Khrysti, Melissa, Marci, Cara and Ryker; four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Isabella, Bryson and Kaylee; mother, Iona Carll of Sulpher; four sisters, Gwen Hann of Cleveland, Nancy Jean (husband, Steve) Sanders of Raton, N.M., Jennifer (husband, Jim) Duhon and Robin Wilson, both of Sulpher; four brothers, Buddy Dean Wilson of Charleston, Ralph Leo (wife, Kay) Wilson Jr. of Burlington, Iowa, Richard Allen (wife, Linda) Wilson of Eunice, La., and Robert Wilson of Houston; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Shannon will lie in state from 9 a.m. until time of services at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at Springfield Trinity Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Ron Waltrip and the Rev. Mike Hyde officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Springfield Trinity Church of the Nazarene.
