Shalin Deion Burns, 15, of Springfield, died at 5:20 p.m., Thursday, June 11, 2015 at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He was born February 4, 2000 in Decatur to Carlos D. Burns and Christina “Chris” R. Webb.

He is survived by his father, Carlos D. Burns of Louisville, KY; Mother, Chris Webb (boyfriend: Perry Russell) of Springfield; one sister, Destinee Burns of Springfield, maternal grandmother Joyce Hawkins of Mt. Vernon; maternal grandfather, Doug Hawkins of Texico, IL; paternal grandmother, Shirley Jones of Mt. Vernon; paternal grandfather, Julian Burns of Mt. Vernon and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandpa: Ricky Webb.

Shalin was a student at Lanphier High School. He enjoyed riding his BMX bike and his scooter. He also enjoyed playing his Xbox, playing basketball and going to skate parks. He loved music and tormenting his best friend and sister, Destinee.

Visitation: 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Hope Evangelical Church.

Funeral Service: 12 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015 at Hope Evangelical Church with Pastor Allen E. Rudd, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to his mother, Chris Webb, to help with medical expenses.
