SPRINGFIELD – Sarah Elizabeth Liz Hart, 86, of Springfield died at 10:44 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Springfield, the daughter of Carl R. and Lois A. Wood Gillock. She married Charles E. Hart June 20, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo.; he preceded her in death on July 10, 1985. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John L. Gillock and Carl L. Gillock; a sister, Alberta Harvey; and a grandson, Paul D. Johnson, Jr.
Sarah was a homemaker in Springfield for most of her life. She was a member of the Flower City Chapter No. 152 Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois and the VFW, Eagles, and DAV Ladies Auxiliaries. She was an avid bingo player.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann (husband Doc) Williams; granddaughter, Paula J. (husband, Brian Kelly) Mulcahy; and great-granddaughter, Austyn Mulcahy; as well as several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, 1109 S. Fifth St., with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Chitwood officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
