Ruth Ann Carswell, 66, of Riverton, died at 6:11 am, Thursday, June 29, 2017. She was born September 4, 1950, in Bonne Terre, MO to Elwood and Helen (Wills) Stewart. She married Doug Carswell on July 25, 1981.

She is survived by her husband, Doug; one daughter, Heather (Lonnie) Miller of Groton, CT; granddaughter, Elisia; two sisters, Patricia (James) Lynch of Williamsville, IL and Nancy (Mike Ruyle) Tannehill of Palm Bay, FL; brother-in-law Danny Glenn of Waggoner, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Glenn.

Ruth had been a resident of Riverton since 1978 and was formerly of Springfield. She was a secretary for the State of Illinois retiring after many years of service. She was also a member of Springfield Southern Baptist Church. She loved to crochet, traveling, family reunions and visiting family and friends, and loved eating out.

Visitation: 10-11 am, Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service: 11 am, Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
