SPRINGFIELD – Rozella M. Long, age 91, of Springfield, IL, died peacefully of Alzheimer’s disease at Lewis Memorial Christian Village at 5:30 pm on Friday, January 8, 2010. She was born on March 17, 1918 in Lakeville, IN, the daughter of John and Zelma (Annis) Warren. She married John E. Long in 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by a younger brother, Dwayne.
Rozella moved to Springfield in 2005 from North Ft. Myers, Florida where she lived from 1979 to 2005. Prior to retiring to Florida, she was employed at Mt. Prospect State Bank in Mt. Prospect, IL for more than 15 years. She was of the Methodist faith. She loved gardening, crafting, and was an avid bicycle rider. She was a die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving are a son: Michael (Nancy) Long of Springfield; two grandchildren, Jennifer E. (John) Lucas of Madison, WI and Justin M. Long of Austin, TX; and two great-grandchildren, Jack Henry Lucas and Charles Patrick Lucas.
Burial will be in Cape Coral, FL at a later date.
