Roy W. “Bill” Singer, 74, of Springfield, died at 9:35 pm, Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born November 15, 1939 in Springfield, to Roy Edward and Florence Evelyn Jasmon Singer. He married Doloris P. Tribble on October 11, 1957 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Norma Jean (Troy) Bauer of Greenview; two sons, Earl Lee Singer of San Antonio, TX and William Alan “Bill” (Deb) Singer of Petersburg; eight granddaughters; one grandson; numerous great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Nancy Hoehn and Penny Cottongain both of Springfield; five brothers, John (Jean) Singer of North Carolina, Larry (Betty) Singer of Whitehall, Stephen (Teri) Singer of Springfield; Robert G. (Roxane) Singer of Athens and Ralph Singer of Springfield; one aunt, Audrey Jasmon of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Sue Johnson; a brother, David Eugene Singer; a daughter, Diana Lynn Singer and one great grandson, Joshua William Puckett.
Bill was a member of St. Joseph’s Church. He belonged to the NRA, ISRA and Lincoln Land Gun Club. He loved to fish and camp.
He retired in 2002 from the Illinois State Police after 25 years of service. He previously worked for Barker Lubin for twenty three years.
Visitation: 2-5 pm Sunday, March 30, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Monday, March 31, 2014 at Staab Funeral Home with Reverend Steven Janoski officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
