Ross Elliott Pickett, Jr., 89, of Springfield, died at 9:00 pm, Friday, June 30, 2017, at home. He was born in South Norfolk, VA on January 29, 1928, to Ross Elliott Pickett, Sr. and Helen McPherson Pickett, and they preceded him death. He married Alethea June Kelley on June 7, 1947.

Survivors include his wife; Alethea; three sons, Ross E. (Linda) Pickett of TN, William (Linda) Pickett and Gary (Sue) L. Pickett, both of Springfield, twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Glenn, Harold, Don and Buddy and sister, Patricia Haggen.

Ross was a resident of Springfield since 1950. He was employed by the Illinois State Police – District 9 Emergency Services as a radio technician, retiring after 25 years of service. He was a US Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and a member of St. Paul’s Masonic Lodge #500 and the Ansar Shrine. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield. A masonic service will be held at 6:30 pm.

Funeral Service: 10:00 am, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home-Springfield with Reverend Dr. Gregory Tournoux officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
