SPRINGFIELD – Rosetta Marie Maurer, 71, of Springfield, IL died on June 17, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born on May 18, 1938, in Springfield, the daughter of Nello A. Tega and Mamie L. Tega nee Chrisco. She married Joseph J. Maurer, M.D. on June 18, 1956, at St. Cabrini Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Tega.
Rosetta was a lifelong resident of Springfield and a graduate of Feitshans High School. She was an avid music lover, sports fan and devoted wife and mother. One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed the company of her pet dogs.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph and their ten children, Dr. Joanne Maurer (husband, Dr. Mark Gekas), Mary Rose Hoffman (husband, Tom); Joseph J. Maurer Jr. (wife, Cindy), Matthew J. Maurer (wife, Kristina), Linda Shoemaker, Diane Howard, Dr. Susan Maurer, John A. Maurer, Christopher L. Maurer (fiancee, Trisha Youngquist), and Daniel Maurer (wife, Rachael); 12 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; her brothers, Dr. Richard L. Tega and Carl Tega; her sisters, Wilma Bileck, Mary Kately and Cathy Cripe; sister-in-law, Rita Patton; brother-in-law, Tony Maurer (wife, Julie); as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home, with a funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Reverend Peter Witchousky, O.P. officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem Cemetery.
