SPRINGFIELD – Rose Marie Decatoire, 87, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died at noon Monday, April 21, 2008, at her residence.
She was born May 7, 1920, in Springfield, the daughter of George and Rosina Cucchi D’Pasquale. She married Valery Decatoire on Oct. 17, 1936; he preceded her in death Jan. 5, 2006.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Decatoire was a member of St. Aloysius Church and a past member of Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary 4179. She was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards and working crossword puzzles.
Surviving are five daughters, Carole (James R.) Enlow and Rosalie (James W.) McDermott, both of Springfield, Jean (William A.) Spainhour of Dawson, and Nancy (Merlyn) Hepperly and Susan Decatoire, both of Springfield; a son, Valery (Bobbie) Decatoire of Springfield; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, where the Knights of Columbus will post an honor guard and where prayer services will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, at St. Aloysius Church, with the Rev. Mark Schulte officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
