Rose M. Wietecha Churchill

RIVERTON – Rose M. Wietecha Churchill, 100, of Riverton, formerly of Detroit, died at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at Mary Lou’s Country Abode.

She was born Sept. 4, 1908, in Detroit, the daughter of John and Ann Sterakowska Wietecha and stepmother Josephine Wietecha. She married Elmer J. Churchill on April 14, 1933. He preceded her in death in 1967. She also was preceded in death by three sons, Donald, John and Gary Churchill as well as her parents and seven siblings.

Mrs. Churchill, a resident of Riverton for 56 years, was a homemaker.

She was of the Catholic faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Peggy (husband, Marvin) Franklin of Gulfport, Miss., and Marlene (husband, Donald) Dresch of Rocklin, Calif.; eight grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Donald Meehling officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or charity of donor’s choice.
