GIRARD – Rosaleen Rosalie M. Avart, 85, of Girard, formerly of Springfield died at 4:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at St. John’s Hospice.
She was born Jan. 9, 1923, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Harry and Minnie Owen Nail. She married Arthur F. Avart Sr. on March 21, 1942; he preceded her in death on May 15, 1990.
She also was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Elvis, Marvin and Howard Nail.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia (husband, David) Graves of Axtell, Texas; a son, Arthur F. Rick (wife, Joni) Avart Jr. of Springfield; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Melvina Denardo of Arizona; a sister-in-law, Bessie Nail of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a resident of Girard since 1971 and was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Girard United Methodist Church and volunteered for many church-affiliated groups including the food pantry. She loved to dance and belonged to the P.O.L.K of A Club.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, at Staab Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charlie Carver and the Rev. Warren Brosi officiating. Burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
