SPRINGFIELD – Rosalee A. Pierson, 67, of Springfield died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at St. John’s Hospital.
She was born May 14, 1941, in Chatham, the daughter of Glenn and Rose Marie Retter Hurst. She married Charles Bud Pierson in 1959; he preceded her in death in April 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Cinda Beverly; and great-grandchild, Jordan Buerkett.
Mrs. Pierson had been a resident of Springfield for 14 years, formerly of Chatham, where she lived most of her life. She previously worked for the state of Illinois Department of Public Aid. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, having family gatherings and helping others. She was a caring and devoted mother and grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Laurie (Ralph) Lowery of Springfield and Marilyn (Robert) Baughman of Rochester; two sons, David (Frances) Pierson of Temecula, Calif., and Christopher (Melissa) Pierson of Springfield; nine grandchildren, David Buerkett, Christopher Lancaster, Joshua and Nicole Baughman, Curtis, Brianna, Trevor, Natasha and Connor Pierson; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert Hurst of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home with Vaughn Beeman officiating.
