Ronald M. Henderson, 83, of Springfield, died at 11:53 pm, Sunday, January 29, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital. He was born April 20, 1933 in Quincy, to Floyd and Verna Taylor Henderson. He was a graduate of Liberty High School and attended Carthage College. He married Marilyn J. Linnemeyer on January 24, 1954 and she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Diane L. (Michael) Cianferri of Sherman; two sons, Randall K. (Patricia Phillips) Henderson of Thorntown, IN and Mark A Henderson of Ajijic, Mexico; two grandchildren, Casey and Will Bethard; one brother, Gail E. (Patricia) Henderson of Quincy and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Henderson was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a manager for Illinois Bell/Ameritech Telephone Company for thirty-five years.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield; Telephone Pioneers; Sangamon Valley RC Club; AARP and American Legion. He was an avid RC Airplane flyer and enjoyed being with his grandchildren and traveling and enjoyed his trip with the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight. He was always lending a hand to fix things. He volunteered at Grace Lutheran Food Pantry and was a member of the Luther Memorial Church Maintenance and Grounds Committee. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Visitation: 9-11 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield.
Funeral Service: 11 am, Friday, February 3, 2017 at Staab Funeral Home- Springfield with Reverend Ron Moorman officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery where military honors will be conducted.

Marilyn, Diane, and Family, We have such fond memories of being with your family while we lived in Timberlane. Ron was a wonderful friend. You are all a very special family.
