SPRINGFIELD – Robert W. Woosley, 81, of Springfield died at 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 10, 1928, Owensboro, Ky.,
the son of Robert Allen and Helen Tenke Woosley. He married Arizona Minton on Sept. 10, 1947; she preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 2003.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marian Froloff.
He is survived by a daughter, Sally A. (Duane) Muchow of Springfield; two sons,
Robert Mike (Wendy) Woosley of Springfield and Jeffrey A. (Kathi) Woosley of Lincoln; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Valerie Zeller of New York; a brother,
Allen Zeller of Montana; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Robert was a resident of Springfield since he was 15 years old. He retired as a SMTD bus driver after 14 years and was previously an over the road truck driver.
He was a member of Jehovah’s Witness Central Congregation. He was a blue grass fiddle player and received 4th place at the Illinois State Fair in 2006 in the senior division.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at Staab Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009, at Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall Central Congregation, 3076 Normandy Road, Springfield, Illinois, with
Matthew M. Woosley officiating. Private burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Jehovah’s Witnesses.
