Robert W. Nicholson, Sr. 74, of Springfield, died at 11:52 am, Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born January 13, 1942 in River Falls, WI to Merle and Pearl Nicholson. He married Betty Dunn on November 11, 1961 and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2007. He married Frances “Bobbi” Hayden on December 8, 2008 and she survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Sandra K. (Steve) Myers of Loami; two sons, Robert W. Nicholson, Jr. of Woodbridge, VA and Brian K. Nicholson of Springfield; step-daughter, Stella Caswell of Springfield; step-son, Joe (Sue) Sicilia of Springfield; seven granddaughters; five step grandchildren; one great grandson; five step great grandchildren; two sisters, Donna Blackburn of Idaho and Dorothy (George) Frazier of Hudson, WI; three brothers, Ted Nicholson of River Falls, WI, Bill (Ginger) Nicholson of New Auburn, WI, and Jerry (Lajean) Nicholson of Ellsworth, WI and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and one brother, Joe.

Robert was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and formerly was a longtime member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. At Immanuel Lutheran Church, he held most offices over the past thirty years, as well as helped to write the first Constitution for Lutheran High School.

Robert was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1960-1963.

He was a leader of Boy Scout Troup #22 for twenty years. He was a member of Prairie Capitol Corvair Association since 1975. Robert worked as parts manager for Werner Motor Company which later became Truck Centers in Springfield.

Visitation: 4-7 pm, Monday, October 31, 2016 at Staab Funeral Home-
Springfield, with additional visitation 9-10 am, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 10 am, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Darrell Debowey officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Sangamon County Inter Veteran’s Burial Detail will conduct military honors.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church or to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
